About Singapore Spirit

Singapore Spirit is an independent travel guide dedicated to Singapore and the escapes you can realistically reach from it — Marina Bay and Gardens by the Bay, Sentosa, the nature reserves and wildlife parks, the heritage quarters, plus day trips to Pulau Ubin, the southern islands, Johor Bahru in Malaysia and Batam and Bintan in Indonesia. Our mission is to plan the trip you actually want, honestly: which Marina Bay Sands and Universal Studios tickets are genuinely worth booking in advance, how the EZ-Link card compares to the Singapore Tourist Pass, and which "day trip from Singapore" is a comfortable excursion and which one quietly means an early ferry and a long return.

Our approach

Every guide, itinerary and recommendation on this site is built on first-hand research. We name real neighbourhoods (Chinatown, Little India, Kampong Glam, Tiong Bahru, Katong/Joo Chiat), real food (Hainanese chicken rice, laksa, chilli crab, char kway teow, satay and kaya toast at the hawker centres), real experiences (the Cloud Forest and Supertree Grove at Gardens by the Bay, the Night Safari at Mandai, a bumboat cruise on the Singapore River), and we quote real prices in Singapore dollars. We give honest assessments of tourist traps — the overpriced rooftop cover charges, the "skip-the-line" resellers you don't need, the tourist-priced restaurants near the big sights. If something is genuinely not worth it, we say so.

What we cover

Singapore Spirit covers the city in real depth: Marina Bay (Marina Bay Sands, the ArtScience Museum, the Singapore Flyer, the Spectra light show), Gardens by the Bay (Cloud Forest, Flower Dome, Supertree Grove, OCBC Skyway), Sentosa (Universal Studios Singapore, S.E.A. Aquarium, the cable car, Skyline Luge, Siloso and Palawan beaches), the wildlife parks at Mandai (Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, River Wonders, Bird Paradise), the green escapes (the UNESCO Botanic Gardens, the Southern Ridges, MacRitchie, East Coast Park), the heritage quarters (Chinatown, Little India, Kampong Glam, Tiong Bahru, Katong/Joo Chiat), Orchard Road, the river and nightlife (Clarke Quay, Boat Quay), and day trips to Pulau Ubin, the southern islands and across the strait.

How we earn revenue

Singapore Spirit is a free resource. We earn commissions when you book tours and activities through our affiliate links with GetYourGuide (partner ID LDXYA0P). This costs you nothing extra and helps us keep our guides free and up to date. We do not run our own tours, we have no financial relationship with hotels, restaurants or tour operators, and we have no Booking.com / Expedia / Airbnb affiliations. GetYourGuide commissions are our only revenue stream — which is why we can be honest about which tours, cruises and day trips are worth your money. Read our full affiliate disclosure.

Available in 8 languages

Singapore Spirit publishes in English (canonical), Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch and Polish. Singapore draws travellers from across the world, and most English-language guides simply ignore non-English readers — so we publish full, native-quality translations rather than auto-translation.
